Filming Day 2 and 3 - Actress Change

On both occasions of filming using the same planning board I produced for shoot day one, I was unable to film. This was due to my actress being absent for the filming. Due to my actress being a high commended dancer her schedule is very restricted. Due to this happening three times within my planned filmed days we came to the conclusion that it would be too hard to get my actress to each time we needed to shoot, if we needed to re-film this would be difficult for her too and would put me behind in what I wanted to do.
I have replaced my actress Olivia with Elle Thresh, a fellow friend and somebody who I know is available for me to shoot my video with.

Because I had gotten the wedding dress I am using for the shoot fitted to Olivia's size I needed to get someone who was a similar build in order to be able to use the same props for my mise en scene. I picked Elle because she is a good actress, is willing to participate in things others generally wouldn't and is a similar build to my previous actress. In conclusion I am filming with Elle for the first time and creating my first block of filming within the next couple of days.

Filming Day 1 Complications

On filming day one we were all ready to go with equipment at the ready, timings sorted and locations decided and then the disappointing part. Olivia my main actress was run down anyway from dancing during the week but gets really bad asthma in winter. She ended up unfortunately having an asthma attack leaving us with having to cancel the shoot due to her illness. I do believe that she is well enough to do the filming now so I am going to re plan the filming for a week and a half time so that we can get it done all in one day.
The second filming shoot has now been put forward so that, that is the the section of the music video that I will be filming first.

Planning First Shoot

Shoot Plan 1

On my first shoot I am going to capture shot numbers 0-40. This is the first third of my music video and will be hopefully completed all in one day. The filming session will last for 50 minutes due to strict schedules of commitment between myself and the talent I have featured in the music video. My actress is a dancer with a strict schedule herself, a very committed person who has little time for other things never the less she was perfect for my role and working around the obstacles would make it the best thing for my video and make it successful. My actor on the other hand is very open, he has a packed timetable for each day however is available to make time.

My first shoot I have planned to do is on the 29th of November, a Friday. This is the day that Olivia who I have chosen to be my actress has free and myself and Jamie are also available. I wanted to check the weather for the day even though I would be shooting inside for this one. That way if I wanted to add anything or use the Christmas markets outside or the train station I would be able to do that with it being dry. The only thing that would stop me filming in Starbucks the place that I had planned would be the fact that we couldn't get/use any of the seating that I planned. This would effect my video because of the cut, tilt and pan transition I have placed after the establishing shot of my actress sat in the seating area.

In order to complete the filming and find out how long I have to do the filming I needed to check my train times. Living over 25 minutes away in a car to the other people in my video and an hour away from my college it is hard to all travel to one place. Knowing I have to be back for six o clock I would have to be on the 5.14 train. The bus below shows that we would have to get the 15:51 train from college into the city center, after arriving we would have around 50 minutes to film.
With none of us having a car it is hard to get the travelling right never the less this is better than not being able to travel at all.

If all goes to plan and the travelling is correct then Friday the 29th will be my filming day. We will have around 30 seconds of footage filmed and the beginning completed with an introduction.
The location I first planned at Starbucks will be used as well as the second shoot within my college and I shall plan both of the shoots through plans.
I am also going to do a photoshoot of stills whilst in each location so that I am prepared for the digi-pak and elements of the music industry etc that is within the brief.

Feedback on concept 1 before filming.

I wanted to explore my concept abit more and see what other people thought of my ideas before I made it concrete that was what I wanted to do. In order to do this I asked three different people in my class within my target audience bracket and asked them different questions about my concept. Having their approval I think I am going to go with this concept for my final piece.

The Beatles - Hello Goodbye

In order to research more music videos and the standard that has been created throughout the last decade I watched Hello Goodbye by The Beatles. The remastered video was a hit created by the band in 1967, the song topped the charted in Norway, France, the United Kingdom and the United States of America. It was also number two in the charts in Austria and Switerland.
I analysed the video through the four key elements of moving imgae; Editing, Sound, Cinematography and Mise en Scene. The song itself was and is a great song with lyrics written by Paul McCartney never the less the remastered video is bland, simple and has very little camera movement what so ever. The analysis I did of the song was whilst watching the video, not stoppping and starting but writing notes as the video continuously played.
I also found when watching the video the exciting, fun, quick camera movements and range of camera angles came into play when the video of the song had actually finished, and the outtakes were being played. The video was made at a time where there were no conventions to be met therefore there are no rules. In my opinion now that the conventions have been created and put in place there is more access now to break them and create something that seems out of the ordinary. The vide itself is overall not a good example of a music video and that has taught me what I do need to put in, in order to make something really interesting for my audience.

Demographics

Definition from http://www.investopedia.com/terms/d/demographics.asp#ixzz2Bpm4hYip:

'Studies of a population based on factors such as age, race, sex, economic status, level of education, income level and employment, among others. Demographics are used by governments, corporations and non-government organizations to learn more about a population's characteristics for many purposes, including policy development and economic market research.'

Demographics basically tell a marketer who might be interested in buying a product.

The success of any business relies on understanding the demographics of the target customers you wish to sell the product to. The information known will affect pricing, packaging, promotion and place. Any provider needs to understand demographics in order to decide exactly what product will include. The first step in reaching a customer is understanding who they are and about them. Having information about a person's age, gender, income and education, tells a marketer how likely a person is to make a purchase or require a service. In the day and age we are currently in it is much more cost effective and efficient to be able to target one's message to the people with the greatest propensity to make a purchase, rather than just attempting to advertise to the entire world. Having a full insight into the target audience gives the business selling the product a high advantage to be able to sell the product better. This is why understanding demographics is so important.
This table is a clear indication to the class's of our society. Tables like these are used in order to choose a specific class to target their product to. For example targeting a music package at a university and college students in group E may want the package to be cheap as they dont have that much income, therefore inside the package there could be more for their money, that way people in this demographic believe it is worth buying. It is highly unconventional to take a group such as group E for a product and place a highly expensive digi pack together with extra things included because the consumer wouldn't be able to afford the things being advertised. Therefore they would not sell their products. Demographics provides us with the right products for us such as magazines, digi packs and film as it shows us exactly what we need to see in them by targeting these groups to begin with.
