Preliminary Task for A2

The Preliminary Task Overall

When I discovered that I had to re-create a music video I was anxious about the task due to the fact I had never worked with video before. This set my mindset to nervous however I followed the instructions of the filming techniques and worked the best I could. Once the group and I had chosen a video to work from we watched the video over and over to try create a schedule for filming. Due to the complications of one member of the group myself and Katie Smith began working alone in order to complete the task by the deadline given.

Whilst filming each section took roughly three hours to do over two days to be able to have enough footage to cover one minute of our chosen video. The video itself had a few special features within it such as videos placed inside still images. These then had to be taught to me and Katie by our film and media tutor, Ray. It was easier for myself than expected and in the final result had come out fairly well in my opinion. We came into some trouble after realising the car scene that we had taken already replicating the video was actually american therefore the drivers wheel was on the wrong side. In order to correct this we had to flip the video so that it looked more like the original music video.
I filmed the whole video on my Canon 500D and took the stills also on the same camera. I did this so that I had RAW facility on the Canon and it made it available in HD. The video on youtube does not reach HD as we had to quickly upload it in a short amount of time. Over all the project was fun yet very stressful. If I did a music video myself I would like to do it alone with as less people as possible so that if commitments are made they are kept. I enjoyed making the video and considering I learnt how to film, upload, edit and export in two weeks I was happy with our final product.
